Journalist, author and adventurer
Liis Auväärt
Liis is a journalist and writer living her best life in Kalamaja with her lovely partner and three cats.
She is also a member of the Women's Voluntary Defence Organization and an auxiliary police officer, a PhD candidate at the University of Tartu, a choir singer and board game enthusiast, a curious traveller, and a seasoned book lover ("My grandmother nearly fainted when, at the age of four, I read her a medical lexicon.")
Liis is also a proud aunt to two primary school boys, who serve as the test readers and honest critics of her children's books.

Creative work
Debuted in February 1995 in the children's magazine Täheke with the poem "Maal" ("In the countryside the air is clean, / and hay smells sweet…").
Since 2005 she has worked at Eesti Naine, today as a senior editor, and she has also written columns for the county newspaper Saarte Hääl. Over the years she has written and edited texts for many other publications (including Eesti Päevaleht, Tervis Pluss, Pere ja Kodu, Meie Maa, Maakodu, Naisteleht and Politseileht), and has tried her hand at radio and podcasting.
